THIS will be a MONUMENTAL occasion, and if you live west or east of Muskegon, wherever that is, ya oughtta just come on out to the Big Cement Barn of late 20th Century Popular Music Revisionist History (or, the E.M.P.), in Seattle on April 12th, ’03, during it's second annual "Pop Conference," for the first documented public exhumation and explanation of The "Universal Sludge Piano Intro," the "Bryan Adams Part," the "Cowbell as Universal Party-Down Signifier,” "Dog Range" Guitar Wank-Ola, "Vacuum-Packed "Arena Drums," and, The "Mustachioed Castrati" on Lead Vocals!
I have personally waited a decade for the formal study of SLUDGE to emerge from Tom Kipp’s living room, and now, at long last, my wish will come true.
Though not mentioned in the cyber-synopsis, I do also hope the "Reggae Upstroke" and "The Scrape" will be brought forth for discussion, as do I further hope Jim Dandy, Bertie Higgins and Benny Mardones finally get their day in The Sun. So much sludge, so little time.
