That's the cold, hard truth.
Now, I have to float this here as we argue over who to blame for 9/11: does anyone ever think that Bush LET 9/11 happen? Hell, let's say he encouraged it somehow. In one fell swoop, thousands of democrats (presumably; I mean, NYC, come on) are killed, he has an excuse to abandon his failing-on-all-fronts domestic agenda (remember what a loser he was then?), and can finally help out his buddies in the oil business and Cheney's in the mili-indus complex (particularly Haliburton). Plus, he can start fucking with civil rights, and, finally, everyone likes a president in war time. I mean, 9/11 was the best thing that ever happened to the guy. Really, for Bush, there was absolutely no downside. No one's THAT lucky.
I dunno if I buy this theory o'mine (have I posted it here already? Surely someone else somewhere has suggested it), but I just can't dismiss it. -E
